Do you sit and wonder, 'Now what?' The school year is almost over. I have completed my school curriculum and covered almost all standards.

In this post, I will share my top 3 Favorite Activities to close the year with minimal prep and planning in a fun, engaging, and memorable way!

3 Activities for the End of the School year !

Spring break and Testing Days are over, SGOs are days away, and end-of-year assessments are almost due. State testing, such as the NJSLA, is next week in my district; what about you?

We have reached a moment where many things may come at us, and it's starting to feel heavy to wrap up our teaching responsibilities.

1. End of the Year Memory Book :

One of my favorite activities is allowing students to create a memory book to capture their favorite moments and memories from the school year. This can include photos, drawings, written reflections, and more.

Read about one of my students' favorite activities they completed at the beginning of the school year. Most students have included it in their memory books.

2. EOY ABC Countdown to Summer:

ABC Countdown tо Summer is a fun and exciting way to count down the last 26 days

of the school year for students in 2nd-5th grade. Each day, a letter of the alphabet is used as a theme for an activity or event, helping to keep students motivated and engaged in their learning during the final stretch before the summer break.

Build anticipation and excitement for the end of the school year, promote creativity and excitement, and smooth the transition to summer break.

3. EOY Outdoor Activities:

As the weather gets warmer, my students enjoy outdoor activities. We live in New Jersey, and our winters are long. To celebrate the end of the school year, I plan lessons that can be completed outside. These can include sports tournaments оr a simple Read-Aloud оn our school rooftop.

Plan outdoor activities that complement your lessons. For example, I planned a fraction review lesson last year, and I plan to do so again this year.

I got students excited to play bowling. They used a fraction equation to calculate their scores and the number of pins they knocked down. While enjoying a bowling game, they reviewed and reinforced their fraction skills.

Another way for more advanced students to calculate the player's score for each turn is to use fraction equations. For example, if the player knocks down the front pin (1/1) and one pin in the second row (1/2), they must add the fractions: 1/1 + 1/2 = 2/2 + 1/2 = 3/2. Therefore, the player's score for that turn is 3/2.

As the school year ends, students aren't the only ones feeling a sense оf anticipation and excitement. Teachers also look forward to this time with relief and joy.

Teachers, celebrate your dedication and the impact you make on the lives of your students every day. Finally, after nine months оf hard work, it's time to unwind, reflect оn the year, and recharge for the next.
